Lorna Sage Archive - Literary Criticism and Journalism

The Lorna Sage Archive is an incredible collection of working papers held in the British Archive for Contemporary Writing on Floor 02 of the University of East Anglia's Library. Here is a link to the archive catalogue: Lorna Sage Archive Catalogue

The material is significant and vast covering Lorna Sage's large volume of writings, the bulk of which centres on her highly acclaimed review writing in leading literary journals and broadsheet newspapers as well as 'The Cambridge Guide to Women’s Writing in English', edited by LS in 1999; and 'Good As Her Word', a selection of LS’s writings published posthumously.

Copious manuscript notes, criticism and coursework layouts can be found in the Teaching and Coursework series (LS/TC). Correspondence with students and supervisees (LS/EX) shows LS’s influential role as lecturer and Dean of the School of English and American Studies.

Also included are papers concerning an earlier proposal to set up an archive (LS/LSA); general correspondence; and papers relating to Angela Carter, Doris Lessing, Christina Stead, Christine Brooke-Rose and other writers.

All visitors are welcome but access is by prior appointment only. To make a booking or for further information, please email archives@uea.ac.uk

Visting Fellowships are available annually to those wishing to study our archive material with a view to further research.
