Madam,
You quoted filthy obscenities in your review of a book, printed in last Sunday's Observer. I have always looked upon this paper as something the whole family can enjoy. What are you up to? Are you trying to see that the Observer is only available in certain Soho bookshops?
If you have a diseased mind and enjoy sexual dirt I suggest you apply to join the editorial staff of some grubby magazine and leave literary criticism to the fine men and women who have graced the Observer's pages over the last 30 years.
PS. I have written a letter of complaint to the Editor.
