Letter, Lorna to her mother (Mrs V. Stockton), 30 May 1963
Title
Letter, Lorna to her mother (Mrs V. Stockton), 30 May 1963
Description
Lorna hopes her daughter Sharon will enjoy her [3rd] birthday party. She remarks on a dress for Sharon. Lorna [and Victor] will be home in 3 weeks and they are also looking forward to bringing Sharon back with them to the university as many of their friends wish to meet her.
***
'This letter, written towards the end of her degree, shows Lorna coming out of the balancing act that was her life at university. By now she has a very fluent and speedy approach to mixing study and keeping up with what was happening with me, and a more confident ability to mix the two worlds, by planning my visit to meet her friends and lecturers.'

Dear Mummy
Sorry to hear about the doll – I hope Clive’s mended it by now – and I hope Sharon’s party goes off O.K. I’m glad you like the dress – it looked rather sweet to me; I can imagine Sharon looking very nice in it. We are working hard at Latin, but it isn’t killing us as we don’t have to think – only remember.
We shall be home in about 3 weeks for a day or so, and we’ll bring Sharon back up here with us for a few days until the end of term: loads of people up here are dying to see her.
I bought a new pale blue mac (£7) in Newcastle on Tuesday, which is rather nice (& is washable). Also a cap which you won’t like – just like a boy’s.
Anyway, let me know how the party goes, and everything
Love to all,
Lorna
P.S. Love to Sharon
P.P.S. I haven’t found out about the pram yet – let you know when I do.
